Improving the Level of Social Welfare by Using Science and Diplomacy for People
INIF International Affairs Manager, enumerating four approaches in science, technology and innovation diplomacy, said that the mutual use of diplomacy and science of each other's capacities paves the way for upgrading and improving the country's innovation ecosystem and diplomacy.
INIF International Affairs Manager, enumerating four approaches in science, technology and innovation diplomacy, said that the mutual use of diplomacy and science of each other's capacities paves the way for upgrading and improving the country's innovation ecosystem and diplomacy. Sohrab Assa said that so far, there have been three approaches to science and technology diplomacy, diplomacy for science, diplomacy for science and science for diplomacy. In this kind of division of views, only the development of two specialized fields, namely science and diplomacy, has been centralized and the public interest has received less attention.
He described the fourth approach as science and diplomacy for the people and emphasized on the simultaneous use of the combination of science and its benefits - technology and innovation - as well as the capacities of diplomacy to meet the needs of society and improve social welfare.
According to the INIF Public Relations, during the fourth joint meeting "Introduction and explanation of the policies, services and capacities of INIF in the field of international interactions" for managers, experts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sohrab Assa stated:
“The requirement for the development of diplomacy of science, technology and innovation, firstly, is familiarity with the concepts and literature of these fields, and secondly, it is necessary to identify the corresponding actors and players of this type of diplomacy in Iran and other countries”.
Following this event, INIF international affairs manager, by reviewing the actors and players of this type of diplomacy in the United States, divided those players into three categories: non-governmental, governmental, and financing institutions.
He mentioned that among the objectives of holding such workshops are to familiarize the country's diplomatic apparatus with the literature on financing innovation, to facilitate the channel of technological and innovative cooperation by using the capacities in Iran National Innovation Fund.
He then added , by using the capacity of science, technology and innovation diplomacy, it is possible to form views on effective technologies in international interactions, use the capacity of innovative cooperation to build trust in other countries, use science and technology and innovation to pay attention to growth in the future government, strengthen the role of various human resources in the economic growth and development of countries, establish effective public-private partnerships and create the necessary cooperation to improve life.
In the continuation of this event, Marzieh Shaverdi, Mostafa Baghdadi and Mohammad Hassan Rezvanian explained new services of INIF in Iran innovation ecosystem, such as services in exporting knowledge-based products and presenting suggested international investment models.
In this event, also some techniques of tech transfer with focus on two areas -Nanotechnology and Biotechnology- represented.
