Iran-Eurasia Trade Agreement Webinar Will Be Held by Iran National Innovation Fund

An introductory webinar on the temporary free trade agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will be held on November 15, 2020 by Iran National Innovation Fund (INIF).

An introductory webinar on the temporary free trade agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will be held on November 15, 2020 by Iran National Innovation Fund (INIF).

Sohrab Assa, the international affairs manager of INIF, put an emphasis on the high capacity of Eurasian market  for the entry of technology-based firms (TBFs) and took action to inform the public about the introductory webinar on temporary free trade agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the EAEU. He stated, “Regarding the cooperation of INIF and Trade Promotion Organization (TPO), and the Iran-Eurasia agreement, it was decided to familiarize TBFs to enter to the lucrative Eurasian market. Export opportunities and knowledge-based services will be described for TBFs”. 

It should be noted that Mirhadi Seyyedi, the advisor of international affairs and trade agreements of TPO, will explain the various aspects of this agreement.

International affairs manager of INIF commented on the topics of webinar and said, “In this webinar the firms get familiar with aspects of Iran-Eurasia trade agreement”. He then said the main topics include:


-    The introduction of the EAEU
-    Explanation of the EAEU Trade with Iran
-    Explanation of agreement at establishment of free trade zone between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the EAEU
-    Familiarization with the ways of issuing and approving certificates of origin in Iran
-    Familiarization with the rights of exporters and importers
-    Do's and don'ts of entering the Eurasian market.

Referring to the existing capacities in the Eurasian market, Assa said, “The temporary free trade agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the EAEU, which is being implemented by TPO, will be the first step to expand trade and economic convergence between Iran and Eurasia”. “This agreement aims to establish a large free trade area between Iran and Eurasia, further expand mutual relations based on mutual trust, transparency and trade facilitation, create favorable conditions for intensifying convergence between members in the multilateral trade system and  facilitate the cooperation between the parties involved”, he said.

The member countries of the EAEU are Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus. In 2019, Iran joined the EAEU for a temporary 3-year period. Turkey and India are also vying for access to the Eurasian market.
